Chinese Embassy in Gambia Holds Bantaba for Gambian Degree-Study Students in China
On August 21, the Chinese Embassy in The Gambia hosted a China-Gambia Bantaba for Gambian degree-study students in China. H.E. Ambassador Liu Jin and Hon. Prof. Pierre Gomez,Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology of the Gambia,attended the event. More than 80 participants enjoyed the gathering, including students soon to travel to China this September, graduates just returned earlier this month,representatives of graduates from Universities in China since the resumption of diplomatic ties between the two countries, as well as veteran graduates who pursued their studies in China back in the 1980s.

H.E. Ambassador Liu stated that generations of Gambian students studying in China have passed the torch from one to another, serving as vivid witnesses to China-Gambia friendship. As the two countries mark the 10th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations, it carries extraordinary significance to exchange friendship with new and veteran students. China will continue deepening practical cooperation with The Gambia in education to further boost the Vhina Gambia Strategic Partnership.

Hon. Minister Prof. Gomez remarked that China’s active support in The Gambia’s education sector and talent development fuels the country’s economic and social progress. He expressed readiness to further strengthen bilateral educational cooperation, and encouraged students bound for China to study diligently, build capabilities and serve their motherland.
Ambassador Liu and Minister Prof. Gomez presented admission certificates to the new students. New and returning Gambian students engaged in warm and friendly exchanges, creating an affable and vibrant atmosphere throughout the event.
